Online poker is booming...try your luck!

The credit crunch does not seem to be denting people's appetite for online poker, it has been revealed.

According to UK.PokerNews, some websites such as Pokerstars.net have seen traffic go up by more than a third this month.

This is despite the ongoing turmoil in the financial markets in the wake of Lehman Brothers' collapse last week.

The news provider has attributed the continuing popularity of the game to various factors, such as high prizes and the World Championship of Online Poker.

UK.PokerNews commented: "Despite a catastrophic few weeks for the global economy, online poker doesn't seem to have taken a hit."

The publication added that the sector has been "positively booming" during September.

This comes shortly after the record for the largest pot ever taken down in online play was broken.

In the $500/$1,000 no-limit hold'em table at Full Tilt, patatino won $610,000 in a single hand, reports Poker Listings.
